Terracotta Pot

The goal of this project was to study and better understand the surface properties of a glazed terracotta pot. To recreate these materials in 3D, I focused on capturing the roughness of the terracotta clay and the specular qualities of the glaze. For the glaze, I paid attention to the irregular drip pattern, ensuring that the mask didn’t feel too static or procedural. I also added random flecks of glaze that would have naturally settled in different areas during the pot's creation. Over time, terracotta clay can develop a white, dry appearance in certain areas—mainly near the bottom—due to mineral buildup. For my asset, I emphasized this detail across the pot, especially at the base.
